For https www Chase com increasemyline and by far Chase has the best credit cards better than any other bank out there, but Chase also has some of the strictest credit card application rules as well. That's why you'll need a really good Chase credit card strategy. I'm going to go over four important topics to give you the best Chase credit card strategy for the year 2019.
How many Chase credit cards can you get
Let's talk about our first topic of how many Chase credit cards can you get. Chase does not publicly publish any data points saying how many credit cards you could get, so it's an unlimited amount of Chase credit cards you could get for https www Chase com increasemyline.
But what Chase does limit is the amount of credit that you can have with Chase Bank. The total amount of credit Chase is willing to extend to you depends on your credit score, income, debt, and a few other factors.
I have five Chase credit cards, that I know some people who have over ten Chase credit cards if you applied for a Chase credit card and you're under 5.24 rule and the application is pending or denied because you've reached the maximum amount of credit that Chase will give you.
Rule for https www Chase com increasemyline
That's not a problem at all, you just call the reconsideration line and offer to shift your credit from the existing accounts that you have with Chase, and this way you could get it approved. This is only if you're under 5.24 rule.
Though another unofficial rule with Chase is the 23 rule, which means that you'll only be approved for 2 Chase credit cards within 30 days. If you plan on applying for multiple Chase credit cards you just have to wait more than 30 days.
But I recommend spacing it out a little more because Chase is becoming a little more strict with their application, which brings us to the 5.24 rules. The 5.24 rule means if you've opened up 5 cards or more in the past 24 months you won't be eligible to open any Chase credit cards.
Last year it was only limited to a certain amount of Chase credit cards, but now it's every single Chase credit card, one exception to the 5.24 rule is if you open certain business credit cards it won't count towards your 5.24 rule. You got to plan your applications very carefully to get the best Chase credit cards.
Which Chase credit cards should get first
If you are wondering which Chase credit cards, these are what I'm talking about, this is a list right here of all the Chase credit cards that fall under the 5.24, which are just all the Chase credit cards in general. If you are considering getting any Chase credit cards and you're just starting I recommend getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred card first.
If you plan on traveling a lot through the year then you'll probably get more value from the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, that's because the Chase Sapphire Reserve card offers a lot of great benefits for the frequent travelers, such as airport, lounge, access through Priority Pass, as well as TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.
If you're eligible for small business credit cards, I recommend going for the Chase business credit cards first, because these cards won't appear on your credit report, and it won't count towards your 5.24 rule as well.
If you plan on going this route I highly recommend go for the Chase ink preferred, because it has the highest signup bonus more than any other Chase card at the moment or that earns Chase alter Awards, currently it's at 80,000 Chase olds and reward points after spending $5,000 and 3 months with an annual fee of $95.
How long it'll take to be eligible to get the bonus again
Then once you get these starter cards, it all depends on your travel goals and spending habits of which Chase credit cards to go for. Next let's talk about after you get a bonus with one of the Chase credit cards, how long it'll take to be eligible to get the bonus again.
For most Chase credit cards, you're not eligible to earn the bonus if you currently have the card or receive the new cardmember bonus for the card in the past 24 months. It's important to note that the language, in the term says that when you receive the card bonus, not when you got to prove for the card, but receive the card bonus.
For example, let's say you apply for the Chase united explorer card in January, but you didn't receive the bonus until April, so it's the clock that starts from April from the day that you receive that credit card signup bonus. So 24 months from that April you'll be able to receive the Chase United Explorer card bonus again, this 24-month rule pretty much applies to every Chase credit card that there is with one major exception and that is the Sapphire card.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred and Reserve can't have both
The Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Sapphire Reserve you're not allowed to have those cards at the same time, and you are not allowed to be approved for the sauna bonus again for 48 months from the time that they sign up bonus post to your account.
That means from the time that you sign up a bonus post to your account, you have to wait four years before you could get that sign of bonus again. But the good news is you can upgrade, downgrade, or lateral grade, however, you need to look at these cards anytime that you want.
If you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred you could upgrade to the Chase Sapphire Reserve or downgrade to the Chase Sapphire Preferred, either way, there's also a no annual fee Chase Sapphire card as well, and that's just called the Chase Sapphire. You could downgrade to that if you don't want to pay the annual fee or if you have another transferable to Salta more work-hard, such as the chasing preferred, and you don't need to pay the annual fee because you're getting the same benefits with the chasing preferred.
Rules specific to airline and hotel-branded credit cards
Now let's talk about chases credit card rules specific to airline and hotel-branded credit cards. Specifically, let's start with Southwest, you are not allowed to have more than one Southwest personal credit card at one time.
If you want to choose one of the three personal Southwest credit cards you'll have to choose either the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus premier or priority cards, and I think the priority has the most benefits. But of course, it depends on how much you're going to use Southwest throughout the year.
If the annual fee is worth paying for the benefits that you're getting in, these Southwest credit cards also fall under that 24 month rule, when you receive the bonus you're not allowed to be eligible for that signup bonus again for another 24 months from the day that the bonus posts.
The Chase world of high card
Let's talk about the chasing world of high card which came out the last year 2018. If you have the old version, the old Chase Hayek card, you are not eligible for the new Chase world of high card. If you've got the bonus in the past 24 months and you can have both versions of the Chase high card, you can have the old one and the new one.
But if you have the old one and want to upgrade to the new one you can do this, but you won't get the welcome bonus, and honestly there isn't much of a benefit to upgrading anyway.
IHG club premier card
Next, let's talk about the new is IHG Club premier card. This card also replaced the old one, and I have the old one currently, and you are allowed to get be approved for the new one while still holding the old one. Unfortunately, I won't be able to, because I'm over 5.24 rule.
If you plan on adding more Chase credit cards to your wallet in 2019 make sure you use these credit card strategies to get approved for the applications.
